Because of its accreditation role, the Association offers two levels of membership - full and subscriber. The subscriber level is generally for those who cannot achieve full membership but would like to have access to the information resources and some support resources of the Association.

Full membership is open to Retailers, Suppliers (of ingredients, products or services) and manufacturers (pre-packed sandwich producers). Additionally there are two specialist categories of full membership: Consultancy (with the same benefits as Suppliers) and Affiliated (for non-commercial organisations such as marketing boards.
