About Us The Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) was set up under the 1967 Agriculture Act and is a Non-Departmental Public Body. Its remit is to work with the British meat and livestock industry to improve efficiency and competitive position; maintain and stimulate markets for British meat at home and abroad, with due regard for the consumer.

BPEX is an executive part of the MLC funded by levy collected on pigs slaughtered for the human food chain.

BPEX main activity in context of the sandwich market is to provide market information and consumer insight to users of British Pork in sandwich manufacture. We want to work with all parts of the food chain to help with NPD and with quality assurance of Pork Products into the sandwich market
